Out and About with Pollard Safety Services

Last week I spent some time in Keighley with a manufacturing company who has been a client for over 5 years.

I love to get out and about and visit my clients face to face. I really enjoy working with them and in the case of this particular client I join them for one day each month working on everything from developing and reviewing their risk assessments and Health and Safety Policy; carrying out communication briefings and training; doing their ladder inspections; helping them with refurbishment/repair projects that fall into the remit of construction, and carrying out their Fire Risk Assessments….. I even attend their monthly health and safety meetings.

This is where I feel Pollard Safety Services can really work to the best of our ability… being part of the fabric of a company as they grow. All the staff know me well and the culture is very much of one where we can discuss anything and we can ask questions freely, knowing that there is no big stick, and there are no ‘silly questions’ – only answers and support.

I make sure what I do links with their HR and other managerial functions, and I have a great relationship with the Managing Director.

I have been working in health and safety for over 20 years now, I have worked for large global companies such as higher risk glass manufacturing as Plant Safety Manager to working for the Police as their county Health and Safety Adviser and various company types in between.

My primary aim when working with companies is overcoming the stereotyping that sometimes comes with the ‘Health and Safety hat’ and making sure everyone from the top to the bottom can be open and honest. That way I get to know what is really going on and I can give the best finely tuned competent, compliant, and proportionate advice.

I am experienced and trained as a Health and Safety Practitioner as well as a Fire Risk Assessor and a qualified Trainer. I am registered as a Chartered level member with the recognised body IOSH (the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health). I am also registered as a competent Health and Safety Professional on the HSE’s Register OSHCR (Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register) and registered with the Institute of Fire Safety Managers.

So, if you are looking for reassurance and reliability as well as a personable approach, you’ve just found the right company!
