Frequently Asked:

Does ISO 45001 replace OHAS 18001?
ISO 45001- The standard replacing OHSAS 18001. With nearly 70 countries involved in its development, ISO 45001 has now replaced OHSAS 18001 – a management system standard for Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S). ISO 45001 came into force in 2018; ISO 45001 is an international standard, ensuring enhanced compatibility with ISO 9001 and 14001.

What is the difference between OHAS 18001 and ISO 45001?
Proactive vs Reactive: The key differences between ISO 45001 and OHSAS 18001 are that the new standard, which will replace OHSAS 18001, follows the approach of other management systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 90001 and has an increased emphasis on management commitment, worker involvement, and risk control.

When does OHAS18001 expire?
Organisations which are certified to BS OHSAS 18001 should migrate to ISO 45001 by March 2021 if they want to retain a recognised certification.
