CHAS and other Accreditations

CHAS and other SSIP accreditations are systems which allow contractors to demonstrate to potential clients that they meet the required health and safety standards.  Many companies you may wish to work for insist you have it in place as a minimum before they will even entertain any quotation or tender process. 

With businesses starting to trade I have noticed an influx of contractors realising that their SSIP accreditations such as CHAS and Safe Contractor etc are about to expire and they rapidly need to prepare documentation ready for their annual renewal. 

In addition, there will be those who are contemplating applying for accreditations for the first time to open as many doors to new business as possible but haven’t a clue where to start. 

I won’t lie, the process is quite daunting for the first time depending on your experience, and there are various different categories to apply for, plus for those with less than 5 employees there is less information and documentation needed… So how do you know? 

For those wanting to renew, or those who are wanting to apply for the first time I can help you.  I can walk you through what is required, help you develop your policy and RAMS (risk assessment and method statements), along with providing training, tool box talks, site inspection forms to complete, all of which may be asked for during the process. 

All you need to do is to make sure you have your insurance in place, details of how you run your business and we can talk and walk through the rest step by step. 

Take note though, that once you are accredited you will need to renew annually, but I can remind you and help you to prepare before that point to make the process easier and prevent your certificates lapsing.
